Mercury Chophouse

About the Owner

The Mercury Chophouse is a locally owned steakhouse. It is open for lunch and dinner.  If you are looking for a great lunch meeting venue for 2, or up to 100, look no further, the Chophouse has you covered.  However, if you just want to grab a soup and sandwich at the bar, the Chophouse is your spot as well.  It is also the perfect dinner reservation fitting for a dreamy dinner date.  The Chophouse is the undiscovered steakhouse downtown.

Come and enjoy signature dishes such as fried calamari with tomato risotto, sides of truffle Parmesan fries, a roster of seafood, chicken and, of course, steaks (New York strip, bone-in rib eye and filet mignon), and many, many more mouth savoring dishes!

As mentioned above, the Mercury Chophouse is a family owned, fine dining restaurant. The owner, Zack Moutaouakil, is a great depiction of Fort Worth. Prior to this location, Mercury Chophouse was a staple to downtown for seventeen years on Main Street. Then, in 2016, the decision was made to move to the Tower on Throckmorton and Taylor Street. The mahogany-hued wood beams create discreet dining alcoves for quiet one-on-one meetings or starry-eyed dates.

Zack Moutaouakil, a native of Morocco, comes from an entrepreneur family. His father owned an array of businesses, so Moutaouakil was raised with the tools to manage and prosper in the hospitality industry.  Moutaouakil’s appreciation for the restaurant business flourished while running his father’s restaurant in Spain.  When he moved to the United States, Moutaouakil entered the workforce in the restaurant field.  He had plenty of experience and understanding of the restaurant industry that it allowed him to successfully go from busser, to server, to manager within The MCrowd Group family of restaurants (Mi Cocina, Taco Diner). Eventually, Zack was offered the opportunity to purchase the Chophouse.  He moved forward with the purchase; becoming the sole owner in 2001.  He has been delivering chanted dining experiences to his guests ever since.
